Updating the resource
Updating FiveM resources can be a little tedious (especially escrowed ones), so here’s a simple workflow that keeps it painless.
If you haven’t modified any files
Download the latest version of the resource.
Replace your existing resource folder with the new one.
Restart the resource (or your server) and verify everything loads correctly.
If you have modified files
When you’ve made custom edits, you’ll want to merge your changes into the updated version instead of overwriting everything.
A clean way to do this is with WinMerge — a free tool that compares folders and highlights differences down to the line of code.
Recommended workflow (WinMerge)
Download and install WinMerge https://winmerge.org/?lang=en
Make a backup of your current (modified) resource folder.
Extract the updated resource into a separate folder (don’t overwrite yet).
Open WinMerge and compare:
Left: the freshly updated resource folder
Right: your current modified resource folder
Review differences and merge changes:
Keep your custom edits where needed
Pull in new upstream changes where appropriate
Replace the server version with your merged folder and restart the resource.
